B remake their RoboCup reign: B-Human secures victory in the RoboCup World Cup 2025.
The University of Bremen's team B-Human has made history by winning the RoboCup World Cup 2025, marking their first championship victory on the American continent in Salvador, Brazil. This triumph follows a distinguished 16-tournament history in the prestigious autonomous robot soccer competition, during which they have claimed the world championship title an impressive 12 times.
The team, which consists of seven students, a doctoral candidate, and two supervising scientists led by Dr. Thomas Röfer (DFKI) and Dr. Tim Laue (University of Bremen), has been sponsored by CONTACT Software since 2017. Other supporters include cellumation, Ubica Robotics, Just Add AI, and the University of Bremen Alumni Network.
In addition to the main championship, B-Human also secured victory in the technical competition, demonstrating their prowess in shooting rolling balls and showcasing innovations for the league's future. This double victory solidifies their position as one of the most successful and experienced teams in the RoboCup.
2025 marked the last year of the RoboCup's Standard Platform League, which utilised a single robot model. From 2026, a new humanoid soccer robot league will be introduced, allowing different robot models to compete. B-Human has confirmed their intention to continue participating actively in this new competition, maintaining their pioneering role in advancing robot soccer technology.
The RoboCup, one of the largest and most prestigious robot competitions worldwide, is organised annually by the non-profit RoboCup Federation since 1997. Teams come from universities, research institutions, and industry, competing not only in soccer but also in other disciplines such as RoboCupRescue and RoboCup@Home.
