Artificial Intelligence Experts Foresee Persisting Buzz Concerning AI Entities

In an interview, Haseeb Qureshi, Managing Partner at Dragonfly, shared his insights on how AI agents could reshape the crypto landscape from 2025 and beyond.

Qureshi believes that AI agents will have a significant impact on the crypto community, enabling more decentralized innovation with lower barriers to entry. He highlights that the cost of launching applications has been reduced dramatically, from millions to as little as $10,000 in AI cloud compute. This empowerment of smaller developers could spark a wave of new decentralized applications in the crypto space.

However, Qureshi also raises a concern. Many decentralized AI agents may struggle to compete with AI models developed by tech giants like Microsoft and Google, which have vastly more resources to push the state of the art. This competition could result in users preferring more powerful but centralized AI solutions over decentralized alternatives, potentially limiting the decentralizing promise of blockchain technology.

Qureshi predicts that chatbots will replace crypto influencers, and meme-coin-based tokens will lose popularity by 2026. He also expects AI to monetize through sponsorships, affiliate links, and promoting tokens they own, rather than through meme coins.

In the post-AI era, "bootstrapped" projects like Hyperliquid and Jupiter will become the norm, sparking an explosion in new applications and experiments on-chain. However, some AI solutions may adapt by impersonating influential individuals or becoming "scambots."

AI will not give everyone a 'trading agent' or mini hedge fund, according to Qureshi. Instead, trading companies with substantial resources and data will benefit most from AI. AI-agent technology focusing primarily on software development is predicted to have the largest future impact.

For an industry built on software, such deflationary pressure will catalyze an on-chain renaissance. However, the mass proliferation of AI agents could provoke backlash, reviving interest in human-generated content. Frequent accusations of influencers being chatbots and scandals exposing AI will become commonplace.

Qureshi also predicts that AI will dominate the crypto community narrative in 2025. Some AI solutions will adapt by impersonating influential individuals or becoming "scambots." AI agents will use digital assets for settlements, a scenario that will become more feasible once the U.S. implements more lenient stablecoin regulations. This use of digital assets for settlements will strengthen Tether's position in the market.

Interestingly, Freysa is an exception to the trend of human-controlled AI in the crypto space. As of January 1, 2025, current AI technologies in the crypto space are primarily chatbot-meme coin hybrids and are human-controlled behind the scenes.

Qureshi's perspective on AI's impact intersects with his broader stance on crypto innovation. He emphasizes support for privacy-preserving technologies amidst evolving regulatory challenges. While these issues concern investor and project risk, the AI impact discussion frames the technology’s broader potential and limitations in crypto’s future ecosystem.

In summary, Qureshi sees AI agents as a double-edged sword for the crypto community: they can democratize access and innovation by lowering costs and entry barriers, but risk being overshadowed by powerful centralized AI offerings, potentially limiting the decentralizing promise of blockchain technology.

Artificial intelligence, as Qureshi shares, could democratize innovation within the crypto community by reducing the cost of launching applications, empowering smaller developers. However, it's possible that AI models developed by tech giants may overshadow decentralized AI agents, leading to a preference for more powerful but centralized solutions.

The post-AI era could witness an increase in chatbot-based crypto influencers, replacing human influencers, as predicted by Qureshi, and AI agents may use digital assets for settlements, potentially strengthening Tether's position in the market.
