Artificial Intelligence Evolution: Bing Chat Marks a Milestone with an Essential AI Advancement Introduced

Crank up your video editing game with Clipchamp's fresh new feature! Soon, you'll be able to effortlessly trim videos by editing the damn transcript. That's right, say goodbye to fiddling with timelines and hello to a smoother editing experience.

Clipchamp is more than just a built-in video editor on Windows 11; it's available online and on iOS as well, although Android users are out of luck for now. Microsoft snapped up this bad boy in 2021 and has been steadily beefing up its features, aiming to create a basic editor that doesn't compete with heavyweights like Adobe Premiere Pro.

For business and education folks rocking some Microsoft 365 licenses, there's a work version of Clipchamp that boasts branded templates, AI features, screen recording, and webcam recording for creating presentations.

Already, Clipchamp can generate AI transcripts for videos, but things are about to get even more exciting — starting this month, you'll be able to edit the text inside those transcripts, and poof! — the corresponding parts of the video will vanish. This badass feature will make its way to work users in June 2025, with personal users following suit shortly after.

To give this new tool a spin:

  1. Open or create a video project in Clipchamp with spoken dialogue.
  2. Navigate to the Transcript tab on the right-hand side of the editor.
  3. Choose Generate transcript to kick off the transcription process.
  4. Select any text in the transcript you'd like to boot, then tap Delete. Ta-da! That section's out of the video, no need for timeline finagling!

The Captions tab is retiring and relocating to the Transcript tab in Clipchamp. Don't worry, caption-related features are still alive and well, they've just moved homes.

AI-generated transcripts come equipped with timestamps, making it easy to jump to various sections of the video. With the new feature, you can chuck out off-topic chatter and let your video get the damn trim it deserves.

Transcript-based editing is dropping first for work users, then for personal users, so keep your peepers peeled!

Transcripts and captions increase accessibility, aid retention, and let people watch your content without sound, making them crucial in the age of social media. Gone are the days of hand-transcribing videos, which was necessary but took forever. Clipchamp's AI-generated transcriptions save a boatload of time, and the ability to trim videos based on those transcripts is the cherry on top.

I've given Clipchamp the once-over since it became Microsoft's pet project, and I gotta say, it's a solid editor with plenty of features centered on productivity. If your business or org has a license with Clipchamp for work, give it a spin for tasks like walkthroughs, onboarding vids, and presentations.

Not working in a corporate environment? Relax, the personal version of Clipchamp is also user-friendly, just in a slightly different way. I use it to craft highlight reels for my American football team. Whether you're a business guru or a sporty style icon, Clipchamp's got you covered with an easy-to-use editor that helps you unleash your inner film director.

  1. Clipchamp, now a Microsoft property, offers various ways to edit videos, not just on Windows 11 but also online and on iOS devices.
  2. For those with Microsoft 365 licenses, the work version of Clipchamp provides AI features, screen recording, and webcam recording, perfect for creating presentations.
  3. Microsoft's acquisition of Clipchamp has led to advancements, as soon, users will be able to edit video segments directly from the AI-generated transcripts.
  4. With Microsoft's focus on artificial intelligence, Clipchamp's AI-generated transcripts are equipped with timestamps, aiding in easy navigation through videos.
  5. The personal version of Clipchamp, available to all users, is designed for easy video editing, making it possible for anyone to unleash their inner film director, even outside a corporate environment.
