Apple introduces sports application incorporating DraftKings betting odds
In a move to cater to sports enthusiasts, tech giant Apple has unveiled a new app called Apple Sports. This application, available for download in the App Store, provides live scores, stats, and betting odds for various sports and teams.
The Apple Sports app is designed to keep users updated with their favourite teams and leagues. Users can customise their scoreboards by following their favourite teams, tournaments, and leagues. The app offers real-time scores and stats for popular sports such as MLS, NBA, NCAA basketball (men's and women's), NHL, Bundesliga, LaLiga, Liga MX, Ligue 1, Premier League, and Serie A.
Apple Sports also includes a Sports Hub section for streaming sports games via Apple TV. The betting odds in Apple Sports are provided by DraftKings.
Currently, the Apple Sports app is accessible in the US, UK, and Canada. Users can tap to go to the Apple TV app to watch live games from Apple and connected streaming apps within Apple Sports.
Recent additions to the app include support for the FA Community Shield, an English football pre-season competition, enhancing soccer coverage in the app. There is also integration with Liga MX and coverage related to the MLS Leagues Cup for users in Mexico, linking soccer fans to regional leagues.
Looking ahead, Apple Sports is expected to add additional leagues, including MLB, NFL, NCAAF, NWSL, and WNBA, for their upcoming seasons. However, no explicit announcements have been made regarding the addition of new leagues beyond the recent addition of the FA Community Shield and Liga MX/MLS Leagues Cup support.
Apple SVP of services, Eddy Cue, stated that the app aims to provide fast access to sports scores and stats. The Apple Sports app is a free download, making it an accessible and convenient tool for sports fans worldwide.
