Apple Intelligence Delayed in China, Coming via Software Update in Late 2025

Apple has announced the completion of technical integration for Apple Intelligence in China. The feature, initially planned for the iPhone 17 series launch, will now arrive via a software update in late 2025. Regulatory hurdles in China and the United States have pushed back its debut.

Apple will unveil the iPhone 17 series on September 10, 2023, but the China edition will not include Apple Intelligence at launch. Instead, the company plans to introduce it through a software update later in the year.

Regulatory approvals have caused delays, with both Chinese and American authorities requiring additional time to review the feature. Apple has partnered with Alibaba to handle content review for Apple Intelligence in the Chinese market. In China, Apple Intelligence will utilise Baidu's Ernie Bot as the core cloud engine.

Apple Intelligence, despite being ready for integration, will not launch with the iPhone 17 series in China. Users can expect it later in 2025 following regulatory clearances. Apple's collaboration with Alibaba and Baidu ensures local compliance and integration with Chinese services.
