Apple Expands Smart Glasses Lineup With Two AI-Powered Models

Apple is expanding its smart glasses lineup. While the tech giant has been behind competitors like Meta in this field, it's now developing two pairs of AI-powered smart glasses. The first, the N50, is expected in 2027, while a second pair with a built-in display is slated for around 2028.

The N50, set to be unveiled in 2026, will pair with the iPhone but won't have its own display. This is a departure from the second pair, which will work independently and feature a built-in display. Apple's decision to develop two models could be influenced by Meta's recent release of the Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses. The Vision Air team, previously working on Apple's AR/VR headset, is now focusing on these AI glasses.

Apple's move into AI smart glasses is significant. With two models in development, the company is catching up to competitors like Meta. The N50, due in 2027, and the second pair, expected around 2028, offer different features, catering to varied consumer needs. Apple's decision to shift the Vision Air team to work on these glasses underscores the company's commitment to this emerging market.
