Apple Allegedly Engages in Development of a Home Surveillance Camera
tech expert Ming-Chi Kuo's latest forecast reveals that tech giant Apple is cooking up a fresh offering: a wise home IP (Internet Protocol) surveillance camera. As per Kuo's article on Medium, manufacturing of the device will commence in 2026.
Should Kuo's prediction hold true, Apple is aiming high by aiming to peddle millions of cameras worldwide each year. According to Kuo, the forthcoming intelligent home camera will sync with Siri and Apple's Brain, the talking point of the new iPhone 16 lineup. As 9to5Mac notes, for executing CPU-intensive Apple's Brain commands, the camera will be equipped with a cutting-edge silicon chip. Siri compatibility could be intriguing, considering the recent massive Siri renovation.
Apple, famed for enclosing its ecosystem in a high wall, is likely to engineer a wise home camera with faultless integration encouraging users to splurge on additional Apple appliances. As per The Verge, at present, Apple's wise home platform, Apple Home, facilitates uniting with select cameras such as Aqara, Eve, and Logitech, while popular brands like Ring, Arlo, and Blink are excluded.
Kuo also foresees more health amenities gracing the AirPods. Given the triumph of the hearing assistance functionality, Apple may plan to bestow its wireless earbuds with more health monitoring features. These attributes are supposedly to debut on a new AirPods model.
Apple's leap into wise homes adds up, and a surveillance camera isn't the only innovation within this category Apple has been tinkering with. In his recent newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that Apple is developing a new wise home device, following its lukewarm reception of existing options, which have trailed those of Google and Amazon. He suggests the device will come equipped with a display (measuring approximately the size of two iPhones side by side) jutting out of the existing HomePod, and users will be able to utilize it for tasks including making video calls, browsing the web, examining the calendar, etc. A few years after introducing a wise home device with a display, Apple is said to add a robotic arm to it allowing the display to track the user around the room.
The future of Apple's tech and technology is exciting, with Kuo predicting that the company aims to sell millions of their upcoming intelligent home camera globally each year. This device, set to sync with Siri and Apple's Brain, will be a key feature of the new iPhone 16 lineup.
As Apple continues to expand its wise home offerings, it's likely that future AirPods models will include more health monitoring features, building upon the success of the hearing assistance functionality.
