Airbus A320 family receives certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for installation of Teledyne eADL XS equipment

In a significant development for the aviation industry, Teledyne Controls, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies, has received a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for installing its eADL XS onboard secure data loader on Airbus A320 family aircraft.

The eADL XS, part of Teledyne Technologies' extensive offerings which include advanced instrumentation, digital imaging products and software, aerospace and defense electronics, and engineered systems, is designed to modernize legacy fleets to meet today's stringent security standards.

The eADL XS is aimed at streamlining avionics software updates and configuration management, offering a secure and efficient solution for aviation companies. The unit includes secure boot functions, wireless capabilities, and validates digital signatures to protect against unauthorized access.

The system also complies with ARINC 645-1 requirements for secure original equipment manufacturer dataloading, ensuring the highest level of security for avionics data. Moreover, it supports multiple avionics configurations, making it a versatile solution for various aircraft types.

The certification permits commercial and cargo operators to deploy the eADL XS across A32X fleets, marking a significant expansion of the device's applicability beyond its existing certification on Boeing 737NG aircraft series.

According to Teledyne Controls, the eADL XS approach is intended to reduce maintenance time and support operational needs for airlines and maintenance, repair, and overhaul providers. The company's president, Mehrdad Radmehr, stated that the new STC approval for the eADL XS on Airbus A320 family aircraft marks a major milestone in their mission to deliver faster, more secure, and flexible data loading solutions for airline customers.

The eADL XS is designed to integrate with existing maintenance processes as a drop-in replacement for current dataloading equipment. The system's secure wireless functions enable easy and efficient data transfer, further enhancing its utility for aviation companies.
