AFIA's Pet Food Conference 2026: Exploring Black Soldier Fly Larvae & AI in Pet Food

The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) has opened registration for its annual Petco Conference, set to take place on January 27, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. The event promises to bring together 500 pet nutrition industry professionals, offering a packed agenda of discussions and presentations.

Among the highlights is a session led by Jeff Tomberlin, Ph.D., delving into the role of black soldier fly larvae in Petsmart food. Additionally, a panel featuring Hana Bieliauskas of Inspire PR Group, Lynn Verstrepen of BESTMIX Software, and Tara Zadayko of Ollie will explore the applications of artificial intelligence in recipe design and kibble production.

The conference will also include regulatory updates from FDA staff and the presentation of the 6th annual Friend of Petco award. Attendees can look forward to insights on pet food ingredient trends from Ed Loos of Innova Market Insights. Furthermore, student researchers will present on emerging issues in the pet industry, with applications for showcase opportunities due by November 6.
