In an exciting turn of events, Kamchatka Krai, a remote region in Russia's Far East, recently hosted its first-ever outdoor drone racing competition. The historic event took place on June 9, 2025, at the "Patriot" youth center.

The competition, organised by the Ministry of Digital Development of Kamchatka Krai, was divided into two categories: amateurs and professionals. A total of eighteen drone operators from Yelizovo, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and Viluchinsky City District participated, with ages ranging from 14 to 48.

The competition's highlight was the specially equipped outdoor course, built last year in collaboration with the regional Ministry of Digital Development. The event featured two exciting disciplines: the "Obstacle Course" and "Drone Racing".

In the thrilling race to the finish line, Artem Fedorov (Center "Voyn") emerged as the winner, with Mikhail Shevchuk (Center "Voyn") placing second and Mikhail Pakhomov (Kamchatka Drone Racing Federation) coming in third. Each athlete completed the track twice, and the winners were determined by the best time sum.

Alexander Belikov, Director of the "Patriot" Center, emphasised the event's significance, stating that drone operation is a promising direction for youth preparation for the future. Sergei Voroshilov, head of the education department of Yelizovo Municipal District, spoke about the unique platform, announcing plans to hold such tournaments regularly, including at the regional level.

The "Patriot" Center not only teaches drone piloting but also assembly, maintenance, and application in civilian and patriotic purposes. As drone racing continues to gain popularity in Russia, it's exciting to see remote regions like Kamchatka Krai embracing this innovative sport.

While historical details about the first outdoor drone racing competition in Kamchatka Krai might not be widely available in public sources, consulting regional news outlets, local government announcements, or drone racing community forums in Russia could provide more accurate and up-to-date information on the event's history, significance, and future plans.

The Ministry of Digital Development of Kamchatka Krai organized a drone racing competition, combining technology and sports, in collaboration with regional authorities. The event, held at the "Patriot" youth center, showcased gadgets like drones in an innovative sports format, with participants using their skills to race through obstacle courses.
