AAT Decides to Buy GERSTEL in Bid to Amplify its Capacities in Automated Sample Preparation Processes

Based in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, GERSTEL is a family-owned company founded in 1967. The company specializes in automated solutions for gas and liquid chromatography, serving various industries such as fragrance, environmental testing, food and beverage, and forensics. GERSTEL's systems are designed to streamline workflows, reduce manual intervention, and improve the accuracy and reproducibility of analytical results.
GERSTEL's strong presence in Europe, North America, and Asia will greatly expand AAT's regional sales and service capabilities. The company, which was previously backed by Battery Ventures, a global investment firm, will join AAT's existing brands, including Skalar Analytical, LCTech, PromoChrom Technologies, EST Analytical, and tsHR.
The transition will be actively supported by the former owner, Holger Gerstel, and the current managing director, Peter Wiersdörfer. The acquisition represents the fourth add-on acquisition for Advanced Automation Technologies and is expected to close before the end of 2024, subject to customary regulatory filings.
With the acquisition, GERSTEL employees will have the opportunity to leverage Masterworks, AAT's business system. This integration will contribute to AAT's strength in continuous margin expansion and help accelerate growth through new product innovation, sales, marketing, and service excellence.
